Outdoor Preschool Pod

Mission

Nurturing children through meaningful experiences together in nature, and to foster curiosity, exploration, and joy.

Vision

A place where children are free to explore and create. A community that honors and encourages the individual and facilitates healthy relationships, with nature as the backdrop and teacher

Values

Love for nature, exploration, respect, emotional expression and regulation, kindness, creativity, curiosity, contribution and community

A wonderful family with 109 acres in Williamson Co & Davidson Co (near Fairview) hired me to launch this Preschool Pod for them!

They are looking for families who are excited about an intentional kind of early education, want to help shape the small preschool community, and to round-out the families already committed.

This small nature-based preschool community is for

7 curious young children

ages 2-5

begins September 28th.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am-12pm*.

September through May

Tuition is $5500 per semester

*Schedule may shift slightly to accommodate the teacher’s schedule, because the right teacher is essential. We are in the final stage of interviews, and will be onboarding the perfect teacher soon!

Days will be rooted in outdoor play, nature exploration, creativity, independence, and meaningful connection—with plenty of time for children to wonder, discover, and simply be children.

Rather than spending most of the day inside a traditional classroom, children will spend their days exploring the natural world around them—climbing, digging, building, observing plants and animals, creating with natural materials, telling stories, asking questions, and developing confidence through hands-on experiences.

We believe young children need time to wonder, get messy, take appropriate risks, solve problems, and develop a deep sense of belonging.

Our approach is play-based, nature-centered, and grounded in respect for each child's individual pace and interests.

What Children Will Experience

Each day will include a combination of child-led exploration and thoughtfully prepared experiences such as:

  • Outdoor free play and nature exploration

  • Gardening, collecting eggs, building and working with natural materials

  • Stories, songs, art, and imaginative play

  • Seasonal observations and nature studies

  • Practical life skills and growing independence

  • Opportunities for climbing, balancing, running, and appropriate risk-taking

  • Social-emotional development through a small, supportive class setting

The goal is to help these children develop curiosity, confidence, resilience, empathy, independence, and a lasting connection to the natural world.

A Small Community

The pod will intentionally remain small so children can develop strong relationships with their teacher and peers and receive meaningful individual attention. The lead teacher will have support through the rotation of an assistant, specialty teachers, and family volunteers.

Who Is This For?

A good fit for families who are looking for:

More play and less pressure.
More time outdoors and less time sitting still.
More curiosity and exploration and less emphasis on worksheets.
A small, connected community rather than a large classroom.

We are especially interested in families who see early childhood as a time for children to play deeply, explore freely, build relationships, and develop a sense of wonder about the world around them.

Is this Pod right for your family?

Because this is a small community with a shared educational philosophy, our application process is designed to make sure the program is a good fit for both the child and the host family.
