Session 2 Meeting the Woods’ Wildlife
Shelby Park
This class is designed to empower adults and kids to feel more comfortable and confident spending time outside. If you dream of spending time in the woods but aren’t sure what plants to avoid, what to do if you see a snake, or what clothes will keep you and your family comfortable - this class is for you!
Through guided walks, gentle exploration, stories, mindful observation, nature journaling and simple hands-on activities, adults and children alike will deepen their connection and awareness of the natural world.
Session 2 will focus on building familiarity with a few of the common animals and insects found in our middle TN forests. In this class we will:
learn about the animals and insects who live in the forest
learn how to recognize common tracks, calls and signs of wildlife
practice safe, respectful ways to observe wildlife
learn to identify helpful versus harmful insects and their roles in the ecosystem
practice listening for bird calls
cover practical tips for staying safe and calm if you encounter wild creatures
Ticket price is for 1 adult and 1 child, additional family members can be added for $20 apiece
